Trees of the Meadow
Middle Street Meadow has a good variety of trees. Mostly native species but some ornamental as well. The riverside has alders and willows of various types. The hedgerows have some mature ash, sycamores, horse chestnuts, hazel and limes. There has been some planting of trees carried out by the support group and this has included cherry, oak and hawthorn.
In 2008 the Environment agency planted several copses of willow and alder which have become somewhat overgrown. The Meadow friends group plans some activity days to thin these out.
A survey of trees around the meadow was carried out by Salisbury City Council in 2014 and tree types were identified and tagged. The results and tag numbers can be found by clicking the link Tree survey
